Abstract: Global warming has led to sea level rising sustainably， it becomes a major cause of serious disasters and potential threatening and risk to water safety in coastal cities or regions. Damages to water safety in coastal cities due to sea level uprising are reviewed， the worldwide achievements on relevant research and its impacts are summarized. Combined land subsidence caused by human activities with sea level uprising caused by nature in coastal cities or region， several suggestions for strengthening and quickening relevant research in the future are proposed.
