Abstract: In 2007, 2013, and 2017, Yanjin County experienced three heavy storms in the month of August. In this paper, the rainstorm characteristics, the cause of floods, floods level, as well as response measures are compared and analyzed for these 3 storms. The successful experience and along with the works that need to be strengthened are summarized. The results showed that the emergency response and flood management have been gradually improved in Yanjin County. Finally, the suggestions of increase precipitation stations and scientific dispatching of hydropower station are proposed. The study results provide significance reference value to precipitation stations and flood forecasting play an important role in reducing flood damage and avoid loss of life in Yanjin County.
